- Dysmenorrhea: painful cramping caused by either menstruation in general, or secondary factors like fibroids or endometriosis
- Menorrhagia: heavy bleeding that can often lead to longer menstrual periods
- Amenorrhea: primary (not getting a period by age 16) and secondary (occurs when one previously had a regular period but has had it stop for 3 months or more)
- Oligomenorrhea: light or infrequent menstruation that occurs 35 days apart or more
